Buyers Organize as Mahagun Montagge Misses Multiple Possession Deadlines
Over 500 flat buyers at the Mahagun Montage project in Crossing Republik, Ghaziabad, have formed the Mahagun Montagge Unity Group in response to a pattern of delayed delivery that stretches back years. Launched in 2016 with promises of possession by 2019, the project is still under construction as of January 2026.
Repeated Deadline Shifts Create Buyer Distress
Most buyers were initially promised their units by 2022, 2023, or September 2023 and are still waiting in 2025. The timeline has shifted repeatedly. Dates shifted from December 2022 to June 2024, then to December 2024, and now possibly 2026. New buyers now face possession dates as late as 2027.
Buyers are in deep distress, struggling with their loan payments. Buyers who chose subvention schemes are left in a terrible position.
Unity Group Forms, Seeks Government Intervention
Recognizing the urgent need for action, the distressed buyers formed the Mahagun Montagge Unity Group, which brings all buyers together in one place and serves as a central hub where they can connect, share vital information, and plan strategies. By uniting, they aim to amplify their voices and ensure their concerns are heard, with the group's goal being to present a strong, unified front against the Mahagun builder.
The buyers are pleading for the intervention of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, wanting him to "put an end to the builder's mafia raj," ensure their flats are delivered on time, and order a fair inquiry into the matter.
Project Context and Location
Mahagun Montagge sits within Crossings Republik Township, an integrated city project on National Highway 24 in Ghaziabad, built at a cost of ₹60 billion and aimed to cater to 200,000 residents. The high-rise township spreads over 360 acres. The project has RERA registration number UPRERAPRJ2110.
Mahagun Group operates across the NCR region. The developer was founded in 1995 by Mr. Pawan Kumar Jain and has since developed a number of residential and commercial projects in the National Capital Region and other parts of India. The group has already delivered approximately 15.76 million sq ft covering the development of approximately 11,500 residential units, besides hotels and commercial spaces.
